I’ve seen it time and time again..
“We should be delivering with Agile”.
“We need to be more Agile”.
“We need to be more Adaptive”.
“We need to transform to Agile.”
It’s a TRAP!
The better place to start is: “What do we really want to achieve as a business, as a delivery team, as a product team? What is our North Star?”
Often the answer I hear goes something like:
• More satisfied customers and stakeholders..
• The best place to work..
• Better speed to market..
• Better return on our capex investment..
What are the measures associated with those things?
THIS is what we should be talking about and keeping front of mind.
Ultimately the questions is then “Can we UTILISE agile and adaptive mindsets, values, practices and processes to help us supercharge results in those areas?”
My answer to that would be ABSOLUTELY YES.
But it’s not ABOUT agile. It’s not ABOUT adaptive.
When it becomes ABOUT those things.. “It’s a TRAP!”
Let’s be intentional about redirecting the narrative and focussing on what actually matters..
