What I keep, and why

This site asks for personal details in three places: the self-check, “How on purpose are you?”, the signup for The Called, my monthly email, and the booking calendar. Here is what happens to them.

What the self-check keeps

  • Your first name and email address.
  • Your nine scores and the date you gave them.
  • If you were given a link by me as part of a program, or by your organisation, which group that link belongs to.

Nothing else is collected. The site itself sets no cookies.

What I use it for

  • To show you your result, and to send you one email with a copy of it and a few next steps.
  • To let you see how your scores move if you take it again later, for example at the start and end of a program.
  • If you take it with a group, to show how the group as a whole has moved.

I don’t sell or share your details, and I won’t add you to a mailing list without asking you first. The email has an unsubscribe link: use it and I won’t email that address again.

The Called, my monthly email

The Called is one short email a month. You get it only if you ask for it, on a signup form or by ticking the box on the self-check. Nobody is added because they did something else on this site.

  • I keep your first name and email address, where on the site you signed up, and the date and time you confirmed. If you signed up on the book page, I also keep a note that you asked to hear about the book.
  • You are on the list only once you click the link in the confirmation email I send you. If you don’t click it, you hear nothing more.
  • Every email has an unsubscribe link. Use it and you are off the list, and I won’t add you again unless you sign up again yourself.

The list is kept by this website, in its own database. The monthly email is sent for me by MailerLite, an email service, so once you have confirmed, your first name and email address are held there too, and it tells me whether an email was opened and which links in it were clicked. That is covered by MailerLite’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

Counting visits

The site counts visits: which pages are opened, roughly where in the world from, and on what kind of device. Cloudflare does the counting. It uses no cookies and can’t tell me who you are.

It also counts how often some buttons are pressed, such as the booking calendar being opened or the white paper downloaded, without noting who pressed them.

Where it is kept

Your answers, and The Called’s list, are stored in this website’s own database, which is hosted by Cloudflare and may sit on servers outside New Zealand. So may MailerLite’s. The self-check’s email, and The Called’s confirmation and welcome emails, are sent from my own mailbox, which is hosted by Google. A spam check from Cloudflare (Turnstile) runs when you submit a form.

Booking a conversation

The booking calendar is provided by Calendly and shown inside this site. It loads only when you open it. What you type into it (your name, email and anything you add) goes to Calendly and to me, so that we can meet, and is covered by Calendly’s privacy notice (opens in a new tab). Calendly may set its own cookies while the calendar is open.

Your result’s address

Your result has its own private address, which is in the email I send you. Anyone you give that address to can see the result, so share it only if you want to.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your details

Email hi@glennbolan.com and I will send you what I hold, correct it, or delete it. I keep results until you ask me to delete them, so that later comparisons work. If you leave The Called I keep your address and the date you left, so that I don’t add you again by mistake; ask and I will delete that too. If you are not happy with how I have handled something, you can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand.
